A probe of the drowned KCPE candidates has been initiated.
The family of five students from Arap Moi Primary School who sadly drowned a few days before the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) tests have received condolences from Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.
The Cabinet Secretary released a statement expressing profound grief at the deaths of these young candidates and pledging to look into the matter in great detail. He also sent his best wishes for a quick recovery to the Grade Six candidate who is in the hospital right now.
Machogu disclosed that his Ministry has launched an investigation to ascertain the accident’s cause in conjunction with the Ministries of Interior and National Administration. In order to make sure the right steps are done, he underlined the importance of conducting a thorough investigation and promised to share the results with the proper agencies.
KCPE candidate drowns
Parents were advised by the Cabinet Secretary to keep their children away from dangerous situations and activities, particularly during the national exam season. He asked the impacted families and the school to be patient while the investigations were being conducted.
Machogu underlined that the administration is dedicated to take the required actions to guarantee the security of candidates around the nation.
The families of five students involved in the horrific Saturday evening tragedy are in grief, and one student is still in the hospital fighting for their life. A few days prior to the start of the KCPE exams, the pupils reportedly went to Amazement Park in Eldoret. Regretfully, while they were riding on the artificial lake, their boat overturned.
