Exams for the KCSE will proceed despite Monday being a public holiday.
Despite it being a public holiday, candidates for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education will still take their exams on Monday, November 13.
On Monday, Interior CS Kithure Kindiki formally proclaimed November 13, 2023, a public holiday with the aim of organizing a national tree-planting campaign. In accordance with the authority provided by Public Holidays Act section 3, this proclamation was issued.
The Kenyan government’s Landscape and Ecosystem Restoration Program includes the tree planting campaign, which aims to plant fifteen billion trees.
Francis Gachuri, Head of Communications for the Interior Ministry, has made it clear that the KCSE exams scheduled for Monday, November 13, would go forward as scheduled, even though it is a national holiday.
The KCSE examinations will start with practical papers on October 23 and go through the end of November.
Form Four candidates nationwide finished their theory papers for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education on Monday, November 6.
The applicants are expected to take English Paper 2 and Math Paper 1 on Tuesday.
Candidates will take the Chemistry Paper 2 and English Paper 3 exams on November 8.
Students will take tests on Kiswahili Lugha Paper 2 and Kiswahili Insha Paper 1 on Thursday, November 9.
