Graves at controversial pastor church. An intelligence team from the directorate of criminal investigations DCI in liaison with the office of the director of public prosecution ODPP joined by kisumu County department of health ambushed a kisumu clergy pastor’s church on Friday.
Father John Pesa had been reported of controversial teachings to his followers and later graves of some members linked to his church discovered. He is a clergyman of Holy Ghost Coptic church located in kisumu.
According to reports, father John was accused of detaining the sick for special prayers at the church premises. The ODPP began investigations immediately to see the truth behind the clergyman’s deceptive teachings.
At the same time, the officers raided the rooms where the clergyman allegedly detained some people who were examined mentally ill. The patients were rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral hospital using a standy ambulance.

Surprisingly, the sick who had earlier died were discovered graved behind the church building. A number of graves were examined by the officers, as the preacher explained that they belonged to deceased nuns.
After the visit, father John was grilled with information that the government is going to execute more investigations. Charges shall be pressed against the clergyman in court in due time. However, father John was not arrested on the spot.
None of the officers was ready to speak to the media. They decided to keep it calm until thorough investigations are conducted over the same incident.
According to information that leaked to the public, the church has deceived many people in the name of prayers. For instance, eight people had been rescued in June detained in the same church. The patients had been discovered in a deplorable situation and rushed to hospital the same time.
Pastor Pesa’s church is therefore accused of forcefully holding mentally ill patients captive. A court order was granted to allow the investigating agency undertake the exercise.
Several complaints had been raised condemning the actions of the clergyman, of detaining mentally challenged patients. Investigations by the ODPP team are still ongoing.
