Harambee Starlets aim to defeat Cameroon in WAFCON qualifying games.
Beldima Odemba, the head coach of the Harambee Starlets, is confident that his team will defeat Cameroon when they square off on September 22.
Starlets will be away in Yaoundé for the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers, with the second leg scheduled for Nairobi on September 26.
In a home friendly on Wednesday, Starlets defeated Police Bullets 1-0 as they honed their tactics at the Kasarani Annex.
“After three days in camp, I can confirm that everything is well. My evaluation of the players was much aided by the exhibition game against Police Bullets, and I am pleased with their performance.
“I had hoped that professional players would arrive early this week, but commitments to their individual teams have prevented that from happening.
“Club Municipal de Laayouyne in Morocco player Violet Vivian Nanjala will arrive in the country on Friday, followed by players like Esse Mbeyu Akida (PAOK, Greece), Mwaahalima Adam Jereko (Hakkarigucu Spor, Turkey), and Tereza Engesha (Hyundai Steel R.A).”
Kenya will play either Gabon or Botswana in the second round if they advance as aggregate winners over Cameroon.
Automatic qualifying for the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations will go to the victor.
