President William Ruto has apparently emphasized the need of making money off of school music and theater festivals.
He as well issued a challenge to the KICD to digitize the scripts and generate revenue from this year’s scripts. Consequently, the events that take place during the second term of the year will be kept sustainable.
The President also announced that he had given instructions on how to capitalize on the talent and creativity found:
- In ECDEs
- In primary and secondary schools
- In academic institutions
All these extensively focus at this year’s Kenya Music Festivals State Concert, held at State House Nakuru.

The President similarly suggested that Kenya might have enough resources for the event to support itself. He was joined by:
- The Chief Executive Officer of the Teachers’Service Commission, Nancy Macharia
- The Minister of Education Ezekiel Machogu,
- The Minister of Sports, Culture, and Heritage, Ababu Namwamba, and other dignitaries
“There should be a provision for the promotion of teachers involved in the performing arts,” he opined. “This will ultimately lead to the commercialization and continuation of the talent program.”
According to Ruto, the initiative should include training for performing arts teachers both locally and abroad from the ministries of Education and Sports, Culture, and Heritage.
The Kenya Music Festivals were held at Dedan Kimathi University in Nyeri this year. Also, the Gala was shifted to Nakuru Girls High School in Nakuru on Wednesday last week.
The 95th annual event culminated on Wednesday with performances for the President. The head of state categorically served as their patron, by the winning teams in numerous categories.
Ruto proposed that teachers who win certificates for their exceptional accomplishments at the yearly event should be eligible for scholarships.
He too revealed that the Presidential Music Commission would soon be renamed the Kenyan Creative Commission.
He said that the Creative Bill, which will be introduced to parliament within the next two months, is being prepared as the law is being drafted.
At the same time, Ruto asserted that each county would have own talent development studio if the Bill becomes law.

To commercialize Kenyan content on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and TikTok, he created a sophisticated strategy.
“We agreed to use and commercialize local material while also controlling the offensive content when I met with the CEO of TikTok Global,” he said.
According to Ruto, these social media networks generate between Sh300 million and Sh500 million per month in revenue.
The President additionally revealed that the highest-paid content creator in Kenya made an astounding Sh7 million each month.
The Music Festivals first held in 1927, were a magnificent way to honor the vast diversity of the country. The president expressed his wish during his conclusion remarks.
