Martha Karua calls for compensation. Martha Karua, the Narc-Kenya party leader, has said that it is time for the Kenyan and United States governments to agree on how the August 7,1998 Nairobi bomb blast victims are going to be best compensated.
The Narc-Kenya party leader said this during the 25th anniversary of this attack today, Monday 7. Karua said that the compensation talks have taken so long. The two states therefore need to be clear on how the families of the victims will be compensated.
In addition, she said that there is nothing left to be done so as to see the victims compensated. She also said that this is the right time for the two governments to prioritize this compensation. The governments should therefore have talks and agree on best compensation means. The two governments should also show positive efforts towards the matter.
In addition, Karua said that the country took a shot for the United States. Kenyans can therefore not wait for justice for victims of this attack for so long. She therefore urged that the victims be compensated this year.
Further, Karua lauded survivors for their efforts towards the well being of this nation. She also noted that these individuals have played a very important role in standing against injustice. They also stood against exploitation of locals from the international community.
Karua also congratulated survivors for seeing this commemoration. She urged that this day be left aside for remembering those who lost their lives during this attack.
In addition, she said that this day should be a day when the survivors thank God that they survived.
