More Instructors Apply To Be Examiners For Knec
An invitation to assist in marking this year’s national exams was extended by the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) to a large number of instructors.
In October, a circular was sent out inviting elementary and secondary school teachers who had received examiner training to mark the KCPE and KCSE exams.
Examiners had to complete an online application process; KCPE examiners had to start on October 16, 2023, while KCSE examiners had to start on November 1, 2023.
Teachers were told to check in with their username and password at https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke. By entering their mobile numbers, those who had forgotten their passwords may reset them.

After logging in successfully, they were prompted to finish entering their personal data and save it. Then, using the given dashboard, they could view, download, print, and read their invitation letters and marking guidelines.
Knec will give more information regarding the travel plans that examiners would take to visit different marking centers in Nairobi.
There were 1,415,315 candidates for the KCPE and 1,282,574 candidates for the KPSEA examinations. The tests ran from October 30, 2023, until November 1, 2023.
Insha and composition papers are marked by hand, but multiple-choice questions (transcripts) are marked by an electronic scoring system called Optical Mark Recognition (OMR). Through specialized scanning, the OMR extracts marked data from candidates’ response sheets.
Belio Kipsang, the principal secretary for basic education, announced that the KCPE and KPSEA exam papers would begin marking right away, with the KCPE results anticipated around Christmas. Additionally, he said that students in Grade 6 who took the KPSEA exam would get their results around the same time as those in KCPE. To enable early planning for the switch to Form 1 the following year, however, primacy would be given to the grading and publication of KCPE results.
Kipsang announced that there will be two shifts during the marking process to guarantee the timely and effective grading of exam papers. The government is determined to make sure that the exam papers are graded and made available on schedule, and that parents are notified before the Christmas break about the schools their children will be accepted into.
