New school closing dates.
Students at elementary, secondary, and teacher training institutions will have a 10-week holiday before courses resume early next year, according the term dates released by the Ministry of Education on Friday.
The first term is anticipated to begin on January 8, 2024, after schools are scheduled to close on October 27, 2023, in order to prepare for national exams. An improvement over the customary two-week break at the end of Terms I and II, this will provide students a 72-day break.
The first time since the pandemic in 2020, the school year 2024 represents a return to the usual schedule. On January 23, 2023, the new academic year officially began after the national exams in late December.
The school years in 2021 and 2022 had four terms instead of the regular three to make up for the time lost during the lockdown in 2020.
13 weeks will make up the first term in 2024, from January 8 to April 5. The April break will last till April 26, 2024.
