New salary scale. Primary school instructors in the country handle grade one to grade six learners who are typically between 6 and 11 years old. These educators have their monthly pay processed by their employer (TSC) according to their respective workgroups.
The commission’s new grading system has led to an upward outcome which include increased pay for graduate instructions.
Previously, instructions were grouped under groups G, J, K, L, M, N and also job group P. The new system however will involve regrouping.
New salary scale for primary school teachers in Kenya
1. Job group P- Grade D1
This includes all primary school heads who are in charge of boarding and day schools across the country. The range of their new salary is ksh. 77,840 to ksh. 93,408.
2. Job group N- Grade C5
Primary school heads who manage institutions with lower population were moved to grade C5 along with primary school deputies. They will therefore earn between ksh. 62,272 and sh. 77,840.
3. Job group M- Grade C4
Deputy primary school heads in day schools were promoted to this grade. Their salary will therefore range between sh. 52,308 and sh. 65,385.
4. Job group L- Grade C3
This group contains senior teachers. Instructors in this job group will receive a monthly pay ranging from sh. 43,154 to sh. 55,948.
5. Job group K- Grade C2
Senior primary school teachers who were promoted to this group that mostly focuses on special needs education will also earn between sh. 34,955 and sh. 43,694.
6. Job group J- Grade C1
As educators in other job groups, teachers in this job group will also experience a pay rise. They will now earn between sh. 27,195 and sh. 33,994.
7. Job group G- Grade B5
This job group that was previously for entry-level P1 instructions has had a replacement. All educators who are in this category underwent an automatic upgrade to grade B5. They will therefore receive an increased salary of around sh. 21,756 to sh. 27,195. This salary is also the current salary for P1 instructions in the country.
