No promotion for non-local teachers. The quality and standards TSC officer for the Central region Cecilia Mutua has come out clear that the teachers service commission is only going to promote educators who are Central region residents in the firth coming teacher promotion exercise.
She also added that some non-local educators request to be promoted and then seek to be transfered afterwards.
In addition, Cecilia said that they are going to be so harsh with teachers promotion by making sure that only residents are promoted. This according to her is because incase they promote non-locals and they seek for transfers back to their home counties, it will be a burden to them to look for replacements.
She also added that TSC is going to use this same guidelines when employing primary and junior secondary school teachers. Locals are therefore going to be given the first priority as compared to any other applicant.
Cecilia further educators who are locals to apply for the vacancies.
The officer in addition said that the teachers service commission has already deployed enough primary and secondary school heads. This is because the government wants to ensure that all Kenyan schools run smoothly. As a result, these schools will provide learners with quality education.
Cecilia Mutua while speaking during an education day in nyandarua county that was held in kinango secondary school confirmed that the commission is committed to reducing the rate of understaffing in Kenyan education institutions and specifically those in the central region.

She also urged all school heads and educators to ensure that they make potential from their learners. They should also make sure that their students benefit both academically and in co-curricular activities.
In addition, this meeting gage her the opportunity to encourage all the governors from that region to make sure that all ECDE educators get registered with the teachers’ employee before being employed by county governments. This will be an aid to ensuring quality of teachers in schools.
