Guests who were expected to attend a wedding in Kihunguro district of the Ruiru Sub-County have at least six dead. The incident occurred when the concrete slab over a well they were dancing on collapsed.
The group of individuals had stopped by a friend’s house on Saturday to celebrate when the slab collapsed. Approximately 11 of them died according to a Kiambu Police Spokesperson report.
The weight of the people standing on top of the well, according to the authorities, must have caused it to collapse.
The Ruiru fire brigade and police officers from Kihunguro police station then launched a rescue operation, and 11 persons, including two children, were rescued.
