New TSC Promotion guidelines.
Several recommendations have been made by a group of school administrators in Kisumu County under the direction of George O. Nyangwe, President of the Kisumu Chapter of the Kenya Association of Secondary School Principals (KESSHA), to help teachers advance their careers without unneeded obstacles.
These suggestions were made during a meeting at St. Teresa’s Girls in Kisumu with Dr. Jamlek Muturi, Chair of the Teacher Service Commission (TSC). Several facets of the teaching profession, including professional growth, administrative appointments, rules, and services within the educational sector in Kisumu Regency, were the subject of this consultation.
Important recommendations made during this summit include:
1. The scales C4 and C5 will be eliminated and replaced with scale 16 for teachers moving up to the D1 level.
2. Considering D1 teachers for leadership roles like vice principal, principle, or head of school.
3. Promotion of educators who don’t work in classrooms.
4. Permitting instructors to advance from C1 to D6 without having to take on administrative responsibilities.
5. Rearranging the promotion of school administrators in Divisions 4 and 5 and connecting Divisions 6 to the appropriate school divisions.
6. The introduction of a scale to encourage postgraduate professors to continue their education.
7. The payment of acting teachers‘ salaries and other obligations, such as allowances.
8. Eliminating the requirement for additional interviews in the approval procedure for employees who are permanent and pensionable.
9. Giving teachers with junior high school (JSS) and SMA (Senior Management Areas) experience preference for permanent posts.
10. Making sure that, unless there are extraordinary circumstances, regulatory and disciplinary actions are finished within six months.
11. Giving instructors who were fired due to alcohol-related difficulties another chance.
12. Fixing any outstanding problems with the TSC online site.
13. Working with AON Minet to boost services, which will speed up approvals and inspire teachers with better service.
This meeting’s main goal is to discuss various aspects of teacher professional development, administrative appointments, rules, and services in the Kisumu Regency’s educational sector.
They’re aiming at enhancing the overall educational landscape in the region.
