TSC Starts School Inspection in These Regions.
The Teachers Service Commission’s (TSC) Quality Assurance and Standards Officers (QASOs) play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of academic activities in schools by serving as a link to the Standards Division at TSC headquarters.
In recent interactions with these officers, a sizable number of Junior Secondary School (JSS) instructors have principally voiced their worries regarding the caliber of instruction. This commitment will last till the end of the term.
The TSC has directorates for county and subcounty quality assurance entrusted with ensuring high-quality instruction in educational institutions.
The Quality Assurance and Standards role has decentralized divisions at the county and sub-county levels, which is crucial to highlight.
The County Quality Assurance and Standards Officer represents the county and performs the following duties when visiting educational institutions:
1. They evaluate teachers and school officials’ adherence to moral and professional norms.
2. They make sure that teachers and school administrators uphold the fundamental ideals of the Teachers Service Commission and uphold the values and principles of public service.
3. They keep an eye on how the registration of teachers is properly upheld and enforced in all educational facilities.
4. They guarantee that teacher evaluations are completed and that school administrators and teachers are performing as expected.
5. They gather pertinent reports and conduct advisory and investigative reviews of teacher effectiveness.
Beyond the walls of the school, their responsibilities include:
1. Planning, organizing, and leading teacher capacity-building workshops to improve efficient and effective instruction.
2. Coordinating quality control initiatives across counties.
3. Offering teachers ongoing support to guarantee adherence to the criteria outlined in various educational legislation and regulations.
4. Enabling the creation and use of expert teaching resources to ensure compliance with educational standards.
5. Examining the outcomes of ongoing assessments and national exams, suggesting improvements, and ensuring that evaluation report recommendations are carried out.
6. Working with the County Director of Education and other interested parties on issues involving the county’s educational standards.
7. Carrying out any additional tasks tasked by the County Director.
